Terms of Service

Effective May 26, 2026

1. About Aldermere

Aldermere is a memory preservation platform that allows users to:

Aldermere is designed to preserve the images, voices, and words of the people who matter to you. All content on the platform is user-created and privately held within communities.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian. By using Aldermere, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for:

You may not:

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Communities and Membership

Aldermere is organized around communities — private spaces where members contribute and explore memories together. Communities may represent families, groups of friends, organizations, or any gathering of people with shared memories.

Each community is private by default. Only invited members can view or contribute to a community's content. Community stewards manage membership, invitations, and community settings.

By joining a community, you agree to respect the privacy of its members and the memories they have shared. Content from a community may not be shared outside the community without the consent of the contributors.

5. User Content

You retain full ownership of the content you contribute to Aldermere, including:

By contributing content, you grant Aldermere a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

This license exists solely to operate the Service. Aldermere does not use your content for advertising, model training, behavioral analysis, voice synthesis, or any purpose beyond storing it and delivering it to the people you have chosen to share it with. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

6. Voice Recordings and Transcription

Voice recordings are a core feature of Aldermere. When you record a voice memory, the audio file is stored permanently. Aldermere may generate a text transcription of the recording to support search and accessibility. Both the original audio and the transcription are retained — the audio is never discarded in favor of the transcript.

Voice recordings are never used for voice synthesis, model training, or any purpose beyond playback and transcription within the Service.

7. Storage and Billing

Aldermere uses a community-based billing model. One member of a community — the sponsor — pays for the community's storage. All other members contribute and access memories at no cost.

My Library — each user's personal memory space — is billed individually based on storage usage.

Key billing terms:

8. Account Deletion and Content Retention

You may delete your account at any time from within the application. When you delete your account:

If you wish to export your content before deleting your account, you may do so using the download and export features available within the Service.

9. Privacy and Data Practices

Your use of Aldermere is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

Aldermere is committed to the following permanent principles:

No advertising. Aldermere does not and will never serve advertising of any kind.

No data transactions. Aldermere does not and will never sell, license, or transfer user data — in any form, at any level of aggregation — to any third party for any commercial purpose.

No hostage architecture. Aldermere will never use your archive as leverage to extract payment. A user who stops paying retains access to existing content and the ability to export.

These are not aspirational statements. They are permanent commitments that govern how the platform operates.

10. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

Aldermere may remove content or suspend accounts at its discretion to maintain community safety and platform integrity.

11. Guest Contributors

Aldermere supports guest contributions through time-limited, scoped invitations. A guest contributor receives a link that grants narrow access to contribute to a specific memory. Guest contributor sessions are authenticated, time-limited, and restricted to the specific content they were invited to contribute to. Guest contributors do not have general access to community content.

12. Accessibility

Aldermere is designed with a senior audience in mind. The platform is committed to maintaining accessible design including appropriate text sizes, contrast ratios, and interaction patterns that do not require complex gestures. Accessibility is a design requirement, not an afterthought.

13. Intellectual Property

The Aldermere name, logo, design elements, and software are the property of Aldermere. You may not:

14. Third-Party Services

Aldermere uses third-party services to operate the platform, including cloud infrastructure, authentication, and transcription services. These service providers process data solely to deliver the Service and are contractually prohibited from any secondary use of your data.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

16. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available."

Aldermere provides a platform for preserving and sharing personal memories. We make every reasonable effort to protect your content, but we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including:

We are not responsible for:

We strongly encourage users to maintain personal copies of irreplaceable content.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aldermere shall not be liable for:

Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you, if any, in the past 12 months.

18. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the application or via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict of law principles.
